Pitching the Roof

There will be more to follow, I promise! This is a pic Brad took on Thursday afternoon of the roof. It was so exciting to see it all pitched and everything. We had no idea just how steep our roof was until we saw this, but oh well! We went by this weekend and everything looked so good! All the windows were framed out and it looked like all was left was the decking on the roof and the stairs to the bonus room. I'm still not quite sure why they wait and do the stairs at the very last...oh well, they know what they are doing alot better than me!

I'm sure its super wet in there today after all those big storms we had over the weekend. I was working at a wedding on Saturday and we had to evacuate everyone in the church because of the tornado sirens. That was an experience! Luckily the ceremony was only delayed by about 30 minutes, and since it never started it wasn't that big of a deal. It was scheduled to start at 6:00 and we started evacuating at 5:45 and had the all clear sign by about 6:30. What a day!!!

More pics to follow, I was just too tired Sunday from working all day Saturday to upload them. :)

Starting to Wrap!

So we went back to the house on Monday right after work hoping to see the bonus room, but instead we saw that they had put plywood up and started wrapping! They were able to put the garage walls up tho, which was good because that means the bonus room is coming soon!
This is a pic of the back of the house wrapped. We are not quite sure why they left the breakfast nook wall off, maybe they are pulling lumber in that way?
Here's a pic of the garage all framed up!
This is the side wall of the master bedroom. :)
And last but not least, our new neighbors! Mini Ponies!!! YAY! They are so sweet, although I think one of them was trying to eat me. haha!

Stud Walls

Here's a pic of me and Brad standing in our dining room window.

Here's a pic of the stud walls we first saw when we pulled up on my bday. :)
Here's a pic of the back of the house.
Here is a pic of Brad showing something to do with the garage to Mom and Uncle Eddie.
Here's another close up of them inspecting something. You can see they all appear to be in deep thought except for Grandma who is looking off into the distance. :)
Here's a pic of Mom, Grandma, and Uncle Eddie in front of the house!
Another close up of them.

Framing!

So all I wanted for my birthday was to be able to walk thru the rooms in my house. I was pretty disappointed on Friday (3/20/09). I rushed out to the house when I got off work and all I saw was a floor. No walls or anything! Well while we were there we saw the first wall go up! It took all I had not to cheer with excitment! This is our master bedroom wall. Two windows in the bedroom and one from the little room where the toilet is all by itself.

When we went back on Saturday (3/21/09, my b-day) almost all the walls in the house were up and I was able to walk thru it! I was in heaven. Those pics are on my big camera which I promise I will upload soon. This is a pic Brad took with his cell of me just sitting in our fireplace (well that is where it is going to go once it gets a little further along) =)

We also went out there last night (3/23/09) to see if the roof had been pitched or if they had gotten to the bonus room yet, but no luck. We did find tho, that they had started framing out the windows and wrapping the bottom part of the house. Again, another cell phone pic, but I promise to upload the others soon!

FOUNDATION!!!! YAY!!

OK, so I am super excited for the foundation because that means that we are one step closer to framing! I can't wait because once it is framed I can actuall "walk" through our home! I am so excited!!

This pic is of the whole house, its kinda hard to get it all in one shot! When we saw the foundation of the house we were thrilled because I could kinda start to tell where rooms were, but let me tell you that this thing looks TINY!!!! I can not imagine where the 2500 s/f is coming from because it certainly doesn't look like its going in there!

You can see our breakfast nook really good right here! Isn't it cute? Our screened in back porch will have french doors into the breakfast nook and run all the way down the back of the house. I think that is going to be my favorite part of the house!

In this one you can see my handsome hubby checking out the garage slab that was just poured! Isn't he cute?!

And the final pic, is where Brad and I carved our name into the garage floor. I'm so excited! It's our first mark on our new home!

Footers!

OK, so this was completed a few weeks ago, but I want to make sure everything is in order.

This pic is of our footers when they were first poured!! We were so excited and then that same night it rained (of course!).

The next one is of our LONG driveway.....so far we have spent about 4,000 in GRAVEL!!! Can you imagine spending that much money on some rock that is not able to sparkle on my finger? haha! The driveway starts where the fence seperates at the road (next to the yellow tractor) and then comes all the way down to the house.

OK, so those are the only pics I got of this phase, I will move on to the FOUNDATION next!!! YAY!

First Blog!

OK, so I have never tried this blogging thing before, but I am going to give it a shot! My main reason for creating this was so our friends and family could keep track of our house as it progresses. Especially those that are in far away places (i.e. Kansas City???). =) So I am going to wrap this one up and then try to figure out how to do my next one with pics! YAY!
